It can also be a Gryllus - they are abit different from each other - if you only have met one, the other one may look strange kind of a grasshopper.

i looked up Gryllus and they are north american crickets this one is australian i think

Darn internet dictionary - I wasn't sure how the thing was called and that's what it gave me. Hmm, it's not the one I meant, though it wouldn't be the one I meant either. Quite interesting how from far they have some similarity, but on a closer look there isn't almost anything in common. :)
